Anxiety
If you always feel stressed out, if it seems like you’re constantly worried or scared about what may happen in the future, you may struggle with anxiety. Anxiety, in and of itself, is natural. If you perceive a threat and feel anxious, that’s perfectly normal. Indeed, that’s something that’s helped humankind to survive. However, if those feelings never go away, if they seem to get worse, if they interfere with your day-to-day life, then you may have an anxiety disorder. We can help. Here at Sal Psychiatry, we offer personalized treatment so that you can feel relief from your anxiety.
Symptoms of Anxiety
The most common symptoms of anxiety include excessive worry, always feeling afraid, and so forth. However, anxiety has many debilitating physical symptoms as well. You may have an anxiety disorder if your anxiety causes headaches, makes it difficult (if not impossible) for you to concentrate, if your muscles are tense, if you’re constantly restless and unable to sit still, and so forth. Anxiety affects people in different ways. Some may be unable to fall asleep while others may be constantly fatigued. In isolation, these symptoms each individually may not be a sign of an anxiety disorder. But, if they don’t go away, it’s most likely in your best interest to reach out for help.
Anxiety Causes
Just as people experience anxiety in different ways, the causes of their anxiety are different as well. Many suffering from anxiety disorders have a history of anxiety problems in the family. Others may have a physical or mental condition that makes them prone to anxiety. Some, however, may experience anxiety as a result of a buildup of stress in their lives. Many who come to Sal Psychiatry also misuse substances (such as drugs and alcohol) contributing to their anxiety. We can put together a treatment plan that addresses not just the symptoms of your anxiety, but the root causes as well.
Anxiety Therapy
That’s exactly what our anxiety therapy does: our trained, experienced therapists find exactly what it is that’s at the root of your anxiety. All of those worries and fears have some underlying cause, even if you aren’t aware of it. We can work with you to find that and then treat that. In time, you’ll find new ways to look at situations in your life, all while developing the kinds of coping and problem-solving skills that can help you to overcome anxiety moving forward. Better still, we can provide this both in-person and through telehealth. That way, you can receive effective therapy for your anxiety no matter where you might be.
Medication Management for Anxiety
If you’re like many who come to us for treatment with anxiety, it’s likely that you’re taking medications of one form or another. Through our medication management therapy, our experienced staff will help determine which medications are helping you with your symptoms right now and which should be lessened, increased, and so forth. That way, we’ll be able to make certain that your medications are always helping your anxiety and you to the best extent possible.
Cutting-Edge Treatments
Many who struggle with anxiety also struggle with depression. At Sal Psychiatry, we offer treatment for “treatment-resistant depression,” the kind of depression that other treatments have been unable to provide much in the way of relief. TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) may, by reducing the symptoms of depression, be able to help your anxiety as well. By that same token, SPRAVATO, (an esketamine nasal inhalant) may be able to do the same. When you reach out to us for an evaluation, we’ll determine what treatment is best for your needs and let you know what your best options are.
