ADHD
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) can make you restless, impulsive, depressed, and anxious. ADHD, while often diagnosed during childhood, is a lifelong disorder, which can make day-to-day life more difficult. If that’s the case, we may be able to help. Here at Sal Psychiatry, we have helped many to be able to manage their ADHD, to significantly reduce the symptoms, and be able to modify their behavior in positive, healthier ways.
Symptoms of ADHD
Many with ADHD may be unable to stop fidgeting, to sit still for lengths of time, to be unable to experience leisurely activities in a quiet manner, talk non-stop, or just calm down in general. Mentally, those with ADHD may struggle with organization, forgetfulness with even routine tasks, listening to others, following directions, making mistakes, following through, and completing long-term tasks. This can present problems in work, school, relationships, and elsewhere. Through a personalized treatment plan, we can help you to lessen these and other ADHD symptoms.
What Therapy Can Do for ADHD
At Sal Psychiatry, we can pair you with an experienced, professional therapist. In a one-on-one session, they’ll work with you not just on your ADHD, but on learning new behaviors, and new ways of looking at things. In a safe, welcoming environment, your therapist will help you to find ways to modify your behavior in the right ways, to replace negative self-talk with more positivity, and to be able to improve your self-esteem. Along the way, you’ll develop ways to implement these new thoughts, ideas, and behaviors into your life until they become a consistent habit to improve your life in the long run.
Telehealth ADHD Treatment
In addition to therapy at Sal Psychiatry, we offer telehealth options as well. With this, you’ll be able to receive treatment from a location of your choosing, be it your home or anywhere else. There is nothing “lesser” about this treatment, indeed, it is just as effective as our in-person therapy. Through telehealth, you’ll be able to receive the treatment you need when and how you need it. As with all of our other treatments, we’ll devise an individualized treatment plan for your exact, specific needs.
TMS for ADHD
We’re committed to offering the most effective treatment possible for our patients. For some struggling with ADHD, that could include TMS (“Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.”) A non-invasive treatment, this sends magnetic pulses to the patient’s brain so as to lessen the effects of depression. Additionally, this can help some with ADHD as well. TMS, when utilized properly, can help your prefrontal cortex to increase dopamine release. This can help with ADHD, as ADHD’s biochemistry includes dopamine dysregulation. This is not an option to be tried first, but rather, after other options have led to less than successful results. When you reach out to us, we’ll perform a thorough evaluation and let you know whether or not TMS would be an effective treatment for you.
A Personalized ADHD Treatment
If you’ve been dealing with ADHD for years, it’s natural to feel like there’s only so much you can do. Maybe you’ve been taking medication for it for some time or perhaps you just gave up. But, the truth is, you can receive effective treatment. You can reduce your ADHD symptoms so that you can lead a happier life. Here at Sal Psychiatry, we can create a personalized treatment that will help you to cross the bridge, so to speak, from how you feel right now to how you want to feel.
